Create a custom FAAR report template

A custom FAAR report template can be created for one or more organisational units and will overrule the default template.

 

Before you begin

Relevant roles: 

  • Editor of Faculty and Academic Activity Reporting templates
  • Administrator of Faculty and Academic Activity Reporting templates.

About this task

Custom FAAR report templates can be created for individual organizational units when entering the FAAR workspace in Pure. For Editor of Faculty and Academic Activity Reporting templates a custom report template can be created for either of the units the role is responsible for, whereas Administrator of Faculty and Academic Activity Reporting templates can do it on behalf of all units and thereby works as a centralized creator of templates. The custom report is build using a template builder in three steps.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to FAAR Templates and press + Add new template below the default report. This will open the custom template builder.
  2. Template configuration (Step 1)
    This is the basic settings of the template.
  3. Select the name of the template to be recognised as. This name is not used to display on the report itself - this is configured in template builder step 2.
    1. Select the organisational units to include in the report. If your role is Editor of Faculty and Academic Activity Reporting templates your choice is limited to the organisational unit(s) your role is applied for, e.g. a Faculty.
    2. Select in which citation format the report will be displayed in, for example:
      - Short
      - Standard
      - APA
      - Author
      - Harvard
      - Vancouver
      Note, all except Short is only used for Research outputs.
       
  4. Template cover page (Step 2)
    This is where to define the heading of the report itself, a fitting image (Only .jpg and .jpeg files are allowed) and metadata. Metadata includes name, date and the organisational unit name. Their individual order can be re-arranged using the arrows visible upon hovering the mouse on each element. Pressing [Edit] will allow modification of current selection.
  5. Template report sections (Step 3)
    Define a) header information of the report and b) which content types to include. Their individual order can be re-arranged using the arrows visible upon hovering the mouse on each element. Pressing [Edit] will allow modification of current selection.
    1. Header - Define header information using options from the dropdown-boxes.
    2. Report section - Add or remove the content types to include in the report. Hovering the mouse on each element will allow you to modify the order as well as remove or add (in between existing) content types.
Note, Personal Statement is a section where free form text can be placed, but only once downloaded as a Word document. The section is NOT included in a PDF version of the report. Besides, this text is not stored, or captured by Pure.
 

 

Results

When the report is saved it is ready to be run for all persons coupled with the report template (Defined by the organisational unit the report template was selected for. Note, it can be configured whether or not persons are allowed to download a FAAR report from their profile (By Pure Administrators). If they are not the report can only be generated using the batch download.
